

After growing up in Washington, she spent most of her life in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was a dedicated long-haul truck driver for over 40 years. She was known as Deborah Marie Rice during her marriage to Wesley Rice, who preceded her in death, and later as Deborah Marie Gabel during her marriage to Donald Gabel. She was also widowed by Paul Rotondo, who preceded her in death.
Deborah is survived by her daughters, Becky Rice Gaither (married to Maurice Gaither), Lisa Marie Forbes (married to James Forbes), and Jennifer Gabel (with long-time partner Brittany James); six grandchildren, Angelea White, William Kelly, Nathanael Gaither, Abigail Forbes, Jacob Forbes, and Nevaeh Gabel, as well as three great-grandchildren, Priscilla White, Raiden White, and Velkan White; siblings, Laurie Elwick of Colorado, Kim Pogue of Washington, and Kenneth Pratt of Utah.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Pratt, and father, William Langdalen.
The family will lay her to rest on February 23, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to the Veterans Fund Association. She will be remembered for her resilience, determination and love of being a truck driver. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com
