Dexter was born on April 7, 1977, in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in Columbia before furthering his education at North Greenville College in Greenville, South Carolina, and Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
Dexter built a career defined by leadership and hard work. He worked as a project manager for Broghini Corporation, and at the time of his passing was serving as a manager for Rack Room Shoes in Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
Dexter was many things to many people - a father, a beloved son, a cherished grandson, a loving brother, a loyal cousin, and a true friend. Whatever someone in his life needed him to be, he was. He commanded a room the moment he walked in, and he was a deeply loved as he was needed. Those who knew him best remember him as an unwavering source of strength - the kind of person who showed up, believed in you, and pushed you toward whatever you wanted to try or become.
Dexter is survived by his loving fiancee, Layla Metts; his children - daughters, Jayla Hampton McGuire and Kaiyah Hampton; son, Bentley Hampson; his mother, Kimberly Hampton; his brother, Matthew Hampton; and sister, Tamara Brown (Jason); his grandfather, J. W. Outen; his aunt, Yvonne Lyles (Clarence); his uncles, Donald Outen and David Outen (Gwen); and a host of loving cousins and friends.

In loving memory of Dexter:
Dexter possessed a rare gift: the ability to make everyone around him believe more fully in themselves. Whatever someone dreamed of pursuing, however bold or improbable it seemed, Dexter saw potential, and he made certain they knew it - with his words, and more often, with his unwavering presence.
He carried himself with a strength that filled a room the moment he entered. Yet, what those who knew him remember most, is not simply that he commanded attention, but that he gave it freely to everyone else. He showed up when it mattered. He believed in people before they believed in themselves. And when someone needed a reason to keep going, Dexter was that reason.
He was a devoted son, a loving brother, a father, a loyal friend, and a steady presence for anyone fortunate enough to call him family. He led with strength and loved without condition, and he leaves behind a family and community forever grateful to have known him.
Dexter leaves behind all who loved him and, in turn, relied on him - family and friends who will forever remember his laugh, the steadiness of his presence, and the quiet confidence he gave so freely to others. He will be profoundly missed, and just as profoundly remembered.
His legacy lives on in every life he touched and every person in whom he believed.
