

Diana Van Every, a native Charlottean, went home to her heavenly father on September 4, 2016, at the age of 72. She was the youngest daughter of the late Philip Lance Van Every, former Mayor of Charlotte, and Carolyn Quincy Johnson Van Every Hunter.
Diana graduated from Myers Park High School and attended Vardell Hall Junior College. She was a woman of devout Christian faith. Kindhearted and fun-loving, Diana treasured her friends, family and all those around her. She never met a stranger. Diana’s hobbies included spending time with family and friends, volunteering with the elderly and writing poetry. She also enjoyed playing the piano and needlepoint.
Diana is survived by her two children, Diana Hamilton May (Eric) and Phillip L. L. Van Every; and sister Anne Lydall Van Every Glenn (Tom), all of Charlotte, North Carolina. She also leaves behind a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Lance Van Every Sisk of Charlotte, and Carolyn Johnson Van Every Foil of Concord, North Carolina.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Forest Hill Church, 7224 Park Road in Charlotte. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
