Donald Franklin Carter

He was born on the 16th of May, 1934, the only son of the late Charles Carter and Elizabeth Robinson Carter. Don was a 1954 graduate of Charlotte Technical High School and later of Charlotte College, now UNCC.

He served proudly in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. In 1959 he married the former Doris Frazier and after 66 years of marriage added four sons to this union.

Don and Doris were former members of Thomasboro Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Royal Abassader leader and for many years now members of Mulberry Baptist Church.

He worked for 19 years as an Estimator with Interstate Roofing Company and for 20+ years as roofing superintendent with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. Don was also a member of the East Gate Masonic Lodge for nearly 70 years.

The Carter family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, the 10th of July, 2026 at Mulberry Baptist Church, 6450 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. A service to celebrate his life will follow in the sanctuary with burial at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Doris F. Carter; four sons: Tim Carter, Todd Carter and wife, Arhonda; Kevin Carter and Jason Carter all of Charlotte; three grandchildren: Brian Carter, Micah Carter and wife, Gabrielle and Rachel Carter; four great grandchildren: Christian, Camden, Kaiden Jeffrey and Jude Carter. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tommy Lee Carter.

Memorials may be made in remembrance to Mulberry Baptist Church
