Donald Burl Chess

He was the son of the late Dee and Ella Chess. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Hamby Chess; daughter, Melissa Chess McKibben (Dennis); three sisters, Patsy Cash and Rose Konecnik of Missouri, Joyce Mounts of Kentucky; one brother, Tommy Chess of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan McKibben. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Don was born in Abilene, KS and served in the United States Air Force where he received computer training. He furthered his data processing education at IBM Management School. He was General Manager at Transport Clearings East in Charlotte and retired after 37 years of employment. He liked playing golf in his younger years as a member of the South Florida Golf Association. He enjoyed traveling and was able to hit all the places on his bucket list. He regularly attended Weddington Methodist Church for over 20 years.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 14th at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC at 12:00 pm.
