Donald Rupert Lyles

Beloved husband, father, brother and friend died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at his home. He leaves behind to cherish his memory wife, Patricia Burleson Lyles; son, Colin Lyles and his wife, Abby of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Elizabeth Jordan Lyles and fiance, John Gaffney of Charlotte; sister, Janet Lyles of Beaufort, NC, and many dear friends and associates.

Don grew up in the mountains of North Carolina and continued to love that area all his life especially Highlands, NC. He left home to continue his education at North Carolina State University where he was graduated with honors in Chemical Engineering and was inducted into Tau Beta Pi Honor Society. Don continued his education at Queens University attaining his MBA. He was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

The majority of his professional career was spent traveling the world on behalf of Midrex Technologies where he was Director of Projects.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18th in the chapel of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 Morehead Street. His family will receive friends at the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Doctors Without Borders, The Humane Society of Charlotte, or the American Heart Association.
