To the family Don “Big Wheaty” , I’m sorry for your loss . I’ve known and worked  with Wheaty for 30 yrs , the only thing that was bigger than his stature was his love of family and friends . You will not find a better man than Don . I will forever miss his friendship although not related  I still considered him part of my family .

Don Whitaker.  Was my friend and neighbor. He would see me in my yard and he would stop or slow down and hollow at me Hello Mama Zula.       ( I sure did love him and miss him so much.)

Wheaty (Don) was a great person to work with. He liked to laugh and was just lovely be around. It makes me sad that such a great person is gone.

Don was one of the best. Teased for his great stature, we called him "Bumble" and he took his moniker and ran with it. Made us all laugh. Always there for others and was a great team member for the ROTC. I salute you Bumble!

A pleasure to know this kind soul for the past 28 years! Always uplifting when spending time with him at the office. Comfort and strength to your family. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

I am so saddened to learn of Don's passing.  We only recently celebrated with him more than 43 years of employment with Oerlikon Textile Inc.  It was a day filled with many laughs and smiles and even a few tears.  

As I said to Don that day, he was proof of the consistency of good people in our organization.  He valuably demonstrated technical competence, work ethic, friendliness, attention to detail, and knowledgeable work.  He was always approachable and upbeat and looked at the bright side of life.

We have already missed his daily presence and sense of humor here at work and unfortunately won't be able to connect and catch up on his beach visits in retirement. 

To his family, please accept my deepest condolences in this time of sorrow.   I hope you remember with fondness how effortless it was to talk and laugh with him.  May the passage of time bring fond memories to replace the pain of today.

Don was a close and dear friend. We grew up together back in the 60s and 70s. His brother Ron and I were closer growing up, but has we got older, Don and I grew closer. I can't believe he's gone. I think I've mourned more over him than anyone. Don was like the brother I never had. Don would join my family and I at or churches fish fries.. There are so many stories to tell of him and all of us growing up as kid. Play backyard football, sledding in the snow and riding our bikes around our neighborhood. I'm really going to miss Don. See you again on the other side.

This has been such a shock for all.  He was a wonderful person and a great friend ❤️.   I  will  really miss you  Don.  I  know that he loved spending time with you Amanda, Danny and the kids!   He always bragged about the great steaks that  Danny would grill.  He loved the dog sitting at your house too.  I will be praying for the entire family 🙏🙏🙏💔🫂
