Doris “Dot” I. Cloninger, 92, of Denver, passed away June 19, 2021 in Huntersville. Born September 12, 1928 in Belmont, she was daughter of J.D. and Molly Sylvina (Early) Ingram. She married Earl Cloninger on September 8, 1944 in York, SC.
A graduate of Thomasboro High School, Dot was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church in Denver. She was also a member of Republican Women, Lincoln Squares, Relay for Life-Lincoln County and East Lincoln Christian Ministries.
Due to outstanding community work and service, Dot and Earl were chosen as the Grand Marshalls for the Denver Christmas Parade.
Dot retired from Carolina Trust Bank after working many years as the Head Bank Teller.
Survivors include her husband of 76 years, Earl M. Cloninger; children, David (Mary) Cloninger, Richard Cloninger, Rebecca Cloninger, Denise (Charles) Renaud and Scott Cloninger; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Casey R. Cloninger; sisters, Betty Bowers, Libby Price and Carolyn Hicks; brother, David Ingram.
Funeral Service 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church, 378 N. Pilot Knob Road, Denver, NC. Visitation 12 p.m. until time of service at the church. Burial in the church cemetery. Condolence may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com.
