Doris Ann Pace Wyatt was carried by Jesus to be with her husband, John Bond Wyatt, Jr., on June 13, 2015. Doris was born on June 14, 1928, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Carl and Lillian Pace. She was raised in Baltimore and graduated from Towson High School, which is where she met and fell in love with John. They were married and in love for 63 years.
After high school Doris was a PBX operator for Bell Telephone in Baltimore, and after staying home to raise her children she then worked in the communications department at The Rouse Company in Columbia, Maryland until she retired and the couple moved to Florida.
Doris resided at the Villages at Carolina Place in Manor II where she had an amazing network of friends and an active life. Doris truly loved to serve. Her greatest pleasure was to know that she had helped you. At the Manor she was known as Nurse Doris, because she was always bringing someone homemade soup if they were sick, or running an errand for you. At the weekly and monthly socials there, she was also known for her wonderful cooking. Doris was a great seamstress, did many beautiful knitting and other needlework projects, loved to paint pottery, and played golf for over 40 years, even once getting a hole-in-one.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her two children, daughter Sally Wyatt Lowrance, and son-in-law Hugh B. Lowrance, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; and son John Bond Wyatt, III, and partner Kathy Miller of Annapolis, Md., as well as five grandchildren, Tommy Trull of Charlotte, NC; Kristen Wingate of Charlotte, NC; Erin Smith of Raleigh, NC; Laurel Wyatt of New York City, NY; and Meaghan Wyatt of Annapolis, Maryland, and ten great-grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her "little girl," Noelle, her Yorkshire terrier.
Her family will greet friends on Friday, June 19th, from 10-11a.m. at the McEwen-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road in Charlotte, followed by her funeral service at 11a.m. Doris will later be laid to rest beside her parents and husband in Baltimore, Maryland. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support shown by all of her friends and family during her sudden illness. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to your charity of choice. www.mcewenpinevillechapel.com.
