

Born May 17, 1920 in Selma, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late James Elvin Black and Annabelle Brady.
Dot was a longtime and very active member of Back Creek Church where she was a Sunday school treasurer and teacher, visited the sick and took an active role in the prayer chain. She retired from the former Gaul Orthopedic, which became OrthoCarolina, as a medical secretary.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, James Elvin Foxworth; a sister, Eloise Black Westphall and a niece, Barbara Ann Westphall.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Foxworth, whom she married August 9, 1943; a daughter, Trina Story and son-in-law, Greg; a granddaughter, Amy Hance and her husband, John; and three great grandchildren, Bethany Louanne Story, Madison Paige Hunter and Sean Avery Hunter.
Friends may visit Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 1 to 2 pm at Back Creek Church, 1821 Back Creek Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28213. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 pm with Pastor Matt Carr officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Back Creek Church in memory of Dorothy Foxworth.
