Mrs. Mercer, 95, of Charlotte, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Mercer is survived by three daughters and two sons, Willene and Jim Jones of Charlotte, NC, Barbara and John Ricks of Hampstead, NC, Betty Smalling of Simi Valley, CA, Ray Mercer of Charlotte and Ross Mercer of Pompano Beach, FL; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred McFaye of Athens, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Cynthia Spurlock; her husband, Bernard Mercer; and a daughter, June Mercer.
Visitation of family and friends will be 6 to 8 PM Friday, September 2nd at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 1:30 PM Saturday, September 3rd in the funeral home chapel followed by entombment in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
