Dorothy Weatherford Pigg

Dorothy "Dottie" Weatherford Pigg, 94, of Charlotte, passed away on July 3, 2026 in Rock Hill, SC. Born on March 4, 1932 in Darlington, SC, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Mattie (Woodward) Weatherford and the wife of the late James Carson Pigg Sr.

A graduate of Darlington High School, Dottie retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System after more than forty years of employment. She was a member of Berryhill Baptist Church, Charlotte.

Dottie enjoyed crocheting, playing skip bo with her friends, shopping, cooking for family and friends, taking care of her home and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, James (Julie) C. Pigg Jr., Dianne (Michael) Murphy and Dwayne Pigg; grandchildren, Carson Pigg, Melody Nivens, Angel Pigg, Erin Stewart, Scott Trotter, Nina Pigg, Brandy Pigg; 16 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her sisters, Ida Mae Rowland and Lib Argy; and her brother, Leonard Weatherford.

A visitation for Dottie will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 10:30 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Berryhill Baptist Church, 9801 Walkers Ferry Road, Charlotte, NC.
