Dorothy McNeill Pressley

Dorothy McNeill Pressley, born on July 11, 1934, in Ashe County, North Carolina, passed away on May 21,2026 surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She lived a life marked by faith, devotion, kindness, and deep love for those around her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Carl M. Pressley; her brother, Claude McNeill (Gladys); sisters Polly Hughes (Paul), Julie Severt (Jess), and Nellie Miller (Leonard); brother-in-law Charlie Pressley; sister-in-law Carol Ann Braswell; and nephew Jim Severt.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Michael Pressley and wife Elizabeth; grandson Cody Pressley and wife Skyler; granddaughter Madyson Peterson and husband Paul; and her cherished great-grandsons, Hudson and Sutton Peterson, and Bodie and Weston Pressley.

Dorothy retired from General Motors after many dedicated years of service. In her free time, she found joy in gardening, sewing, and faithfully cheering on the Atlanta Braves. One of her greatest joys in life was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball.

A devoted and faithful member of Idlewild Baptist Church, Dorothy’s faith guided her throughout her life. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, and she found comfort and joy in the hymns “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Dorothy will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love for her family, friends, and church community will forever remain in the hearts.
