Doug spent his childhood in San Diego, California. Doug was an “All American” boy. In his early years, he was a paper boy and a Boy Scout. He was captain of his football team at Herbert Hoover High School, where he was also voted “Nicest Boy in School” by his graduating class of 730 students. He attended Utah State University on a football scholarship and majored in geology. After college, Doug served his country in the Marine Corps. He enjoyed a 25 year career as an Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a career which he truly loved. Following his time in the FBI, he spent 15 years working for the security department at Bank of America. Doug maintained a lifelong love of the outdoors. In his retirement years, he enjoyed being a member of the Audubon Society, volunteering with the Catawba Land Conservancy, and painting nature scenes in his “art studio”. He was overjoyed to become a grandparent in the past few years, and loved spending time with his grandson. Doug will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his open heart, and his love for friends and family.
