Douglas Hunt, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his family and friends. Doug was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he graduated from Wake Forest University, and was a loyal Demon Deacon fan for his entire life.
Doug spent his entire adult life in Charlotte, a city he proudly called home and where he built his career and raised his family. In his professional life, Doug was a certified public accountant, beginning his career with Peat Marwick Mitchell before founding his own firm with his long-time business partner, Joe Pegram. Known for his sharp mind and steady judgment, he approached his work—and his life—with care and responsibility.
Doug is survived by his wife, Bari, his brother Terry, his sons, Greg and his wife Cathy, Andy and his wife Molly, and Steve, and his grandchildren, Sam, Max, Jack, Olivia, Layla, Harper, and Holden.
Doug was a devoted Christian and a long-time member of Myers Park United Methodist Church. A celebration of life for Doug will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 25, 2026 in Francis Chapel of Myers Park United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Myers Park United Methodist Church.
