Dovie Cochran Chavis, age 94 of Charlotte passed away January 9, 2012. A service to celebrate her life will be at 12:00 Noon Thursday in the Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home , Reverends Lane Moubray and Billy Cochran officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home

Mrs. Chavis was born in Swain County, NC April 29, 1917 daughter of the late James Turner and Bertie Barnes Ball. She is survived by her children, Gail Moubray (Kenny), Billy Cochran (Martha), Brenda Hunt-Franklin, Becky Harrison, Patricia Hastedt, Jack Chavis (Dale) Johnny Chavis, sisters, Emma Conley, Ethel Byles, Dean Strickland, Florence Sipes, and Frances Ball, grandchildren, Jimmy Roberts, Kathy Roberts, J. C. Roberts, Robin Moubray, Reverend Lane Moubray, Tracy Moubray and Kelly Moubray and Reverend Billy Cochran, Ken Soward,Debbie Wilder, Kristy Carter, Curt Harrison, Beth Jerome, Mike McCartney, Jack Chavis, Jr., Jeff Chavis, Sharon Chavis, Johnny Chavis, Jr. and Steve Locklear and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kissler Chavis. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to Soul’s Harbor Ministries, 516 Ruxton Ct., Charlotte, NC, 28214.
