Mr. Murray was my 9th grade English and History teacher at Sedgefield Junior High School and one of the BEST teachers I ever had. I've had a love of history all my life because of the classroom experiences he provided to his students.  I was honored to receive the Most Outstanding Student in English award from Mr. Murray. 

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Mr. Dozier! I had him for history at Sedgefield Jr. High in 1977!  My husband did as well! We both loved history! I couldn’t wait to get to his class to hear his stories, especially about WWII!  I recall a story about his cat answering the phone when it rang! The way he told it was so good! He was AWESOME! 

Mr. Murray was a truly wonderful man. He sparked a desire for knowledge in so many. Due to him i am a true history buff. Thank you Mr. Murray for all you did.

Saddened to learn of Mr. Murray's passing. He truly gave. All students of Sedgefield Jr. High are better people having known him. So very many fond memories. First camping trip, Pineville Dinner Theatre, and looking forward to his class. We sure hope he knew what a treasured gift he was to so many of us. Thank you his family for sharing him!

Without Mr Murray, I would be on an insane ward. I used his class room to type for other teachers. His attention and caring saved me. Of course I loved him. Thank you, his family, for sharing him.

My condolences to the family of the greatest teacher I ever had, and in my opinion that there ever was!
I was privileged to be in his 1978/1979 Social Studies class at Sedgefield Jr. High School, in third period.
Although I liked school, Mr. Murray made me love it and helped me make the most out of my education. I loved my country, Mr. Murray made me love it more!
He was so strict, but so sweet and kind when you "manned up" in his class and dug in!  It was an unforgettable year, due all to Mr. Murray's class and his teaching style, his person, who he was.  As I've said teaching this country's history was no job to him, it was his life!  I'm the better for having learned under him!  Words could never express my love for him, nor the sadness I feel at his passing and for his family at this time.  It's the end of an era, one of the greats has left us.
Rest in Peace Mr. Murray, it was a privilege to be taught by you, Sir!

Mr. Murray was my psychology teacher at West Mecklenburg in the late '60s. His class was one of my favorites. We later served together in the Air National Guard. I am privileged to have known him and still think of things he taught me so many years ago. Rest in peace, Mr. Murray.

Thank you for being the teacher you were and all the memories.

I was fortunate to have served with Dozier in the Air Guard. He was a great airman and a good friend. His devotion to God, country and family were an inspiration to all who knew him; and he will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family; whom he loved dearly.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

 Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
 Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
 That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
 God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

 It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

 God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not  be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Mr. Murray was our Social Studies teacher at Sedgefield in the 80's.  Although strict, he was a great teacher! It was clear that he had a passion for his subject. We were lucky to have him as a teacher.

While your hearts break at the loss you feel at losing someone so much a part of you, that deep sorrow only reflects the loving light they shined in your lives.
Nothing we say can ease your hurt but we hope the wonderful memories  from better days comfort you as you remember how loved you are and were.  Prayers and wishes sent to all of you  -aj and girls

Was privaledged to know mr.murray at sedgefield jr. High in the 70's. A wonderful teacher and veteran.

There are thousands of men and woman who remember Mr. Murray as a teacher who ran a tight ship! We need more like him. He brought History to life. 
Drink Ice tea not soda and he showed us why with real beef liver! Things we never forget. Thank you, You made a difference in many lives.

No single teacher made a bigger influence on my life than Mr. Murray.  I am thankful, every day, for his wisdom at Sedgefield, allowing me to help as a very young handyman and the happiness I witnessed in him.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Murray and Lisk family.  So sorry to hear about the passing of Big Daddy.

My sincerest condolences on Doziers passing. I feel so blessed to have been there to care for him for the short time I did.  He is a amazing man, who had a heart of Christ. He gave me something new everyday, whether it was just a small piece of his profound knowledge or just a simple smile. He definitely touched my heart.  He will be missed. Martha you and your family are in my prayers.

Mr. Murray was a wonderful man!! Such a loyal patriot!! Always anxious and willing to come and talk to my students about WWII and Korea. I learned sooooooooooooo much history from listening to him. He was a fascinating speaker. He came and shared with my students for about 25 years on a yearly basis!! I was blessed to have known Dozier. America was blessed to have had such a devoted citizen!!! I am so sorry for your loss!
