Bill Corbin, 71, formerly of Bel Air, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his home in Charlotte after a brief battle with kidney disease. He was loving husband to Dorcas Sutherland Corbin, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage next week.

Born August 1, 1946 in Fallston, MD, he was son of the late Elmer Corbin and Eleanor Burton Corbin. Bill’s greatest joy in life was his family, leaving his beloved hometown and moving to Charlotte in 2005 to be closer to his only daughter, Stacey Corbin Ellis, and her family. Bill was known by all for his generous spirit, big heart, and even bigger sense of humor.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Dorcas; loving daughter, Stacey Corbin Ellis; wonderful son-in-law Brian Ellis; and beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn Corbin Ellis and Brandon Michael Ellis, all of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his sister Edith Fanning. He is survived by his sister Delores Doss of Bel Air.

In lieu of a memorial service, a private celebration of Bill’s life will be held in July; details will be provided to friends and family.

I was shocked and saddened to read in The Aegis that Bill had passed. Dorcas and Bill became two of my very favorite people when I moved into West Riding in Bel Air. I was a new wife and ,eventually, a new mother and they offered tremendous support, friendship and laughter every step of the way. I marveled at the love that was constantly shared by the two of them. When Max was born, 22 years ago, they treated him as if he was one of their own and I've never forgotten it. One of my favorite memories was seeing the craft room that Bill made for Dorcas. She was so creative and I still proudly display the Christmas wreaths she made me. Bill loved being able to have that room for her and their smiles lit up the room. Bill was truly special and I know he will be missed today and everyday.
My deepest sympathies to all.
