

Edith Laura Ossman, age 84, of Charlotte passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Elmcroft Assisted Living.
She was born October 26, 1928 in Mabie, West Virginia the daughter of the late Albert Theron Nethken and Elsie Gay Hornbeck Nethken. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Donald A. Ossman; four brothers, Frank, Ralph, Weese and Harris Nethken; and three sisters, Jessie Phillips Logue, Jane Helmick and Virginia Dove Calain.
Edith was active in the Miller Sunday School Class and attended Hawthorne United Methodist Church. She retired after a long career with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System’s cafeteria department. She was known for her love of gardening, quilting and sewing, was a devoted mother and grandmother, whom will be deeply missed by all.
Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Ossman Hopkins and husband Alvin; granddaughters, Michelle Hopkins and fiancé Dave Culp, Lisa Hopkins Larimer and husband Willie and Alisa Hopkins; sister, Rosie Bland; and numerous other loving family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.
