

Mrs. Nussman, age 87, of Matthews, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Brookdale - Weddington Park. Born February 14, 1928 in Charlotte, she was the daughter of the late Charlie William O’Shields and Gertrude Allison O’Shields Brown. She graduated from Harry P. Harding High School, Class of 1946. Mrs. Nussman retired as secretary of Matthews Elementary School after 21 years of service. She had formerly worked for Charlotte Paper Company. Edna made an extraordinary effort to recognize family and friends on special occasions with hand selected greeting cards enhanced by her own personal message. This was her legacy. An original PSL owner, Mrs. Nussman was an avid Carolina Panthers fan. She also loved the Atlanta Braves.
The service to celebrate the life of Edna Nussman will be held 12:30 PM Saturday at First Baptist Church of Matthews with her son-in-law, Dr. Warren Nance and Reverend Ron Gregory, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert Thomas Nussman; four children, Tommy Nussman and wife, Kay, of Charlotte, Tony Nussman of Pageland, SC, Candy Nance and husband, Warren, of Indian Trail, Roger Nussman and wife, Julie of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Chad Nussman and wife, Ashleigh, David Nussman and wife, Erin, Elizabeth Nance, Joseph Nance, Justin Nance, Emma Nussman and Banks Nussman; and two great grandchildren, Bradey Kate Nussman and Owen Nussman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nussman was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aurelia Nussman and a sister, Jeannette Nicholson.
