Edward Thomas Wamsley, 81, of Indian Land, SC passed away on September 7, 2014. Ed was born August 24, 1933 in Asheville, NC, the youngest of Porter and Katherine Wamsley’s six children. He attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated from Western Carolina University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Ed also served his country in the US Navy. Ed was a very active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society as well as a Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Iris Long Wamsley; son, Paul Wamsley; daughter, Maria Parsons; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Michael Parsons; his brother, James (Buzz) Wamsley along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday September 13 at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church followed by an inurnment at the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Ed’s honor to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
