Edwin Elmore Fletcher, 95, of Indian Land, SC passed away on September 15, 2026. Born on August 6, 1931 in Tobago, he was the son of the late Nicholson and Isabel (Thornhill) Fletcher. He married Eslyn Charles on August 6, 1984 in Brockton, MA.
He migrated to Boston, MA in the late 1960's where he spent thirty years in building and ground maintenance for various medical facilities. Once he retired, he and his wife moved to Kissimmee, FL where they were active in community and church for over twenty-five years. In his declining years, Edwin moved to Indian Land, SC to be closer to family and he was a member of Transformation Church.
Edwin took great pride in his carpentry and wood work. He was always quick to offer his services to friends, family and church members. He enjoyed gardening and loved to cook his island recipes for family and friends. He always cherished and dearly loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Eslyn Fletcher; children, Sylvia (James) Yarbough, Kathleen Fletcher and Charles Fletcher; grandchildren, James Edwin Yarbough, Joseph (Rachel Cicurel) Yarbough, and Tamia Fletcher; great-grandchild, Jackson Cicurel Yarbough; sister, Utilda Fletcher; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Edwin was preceded in death by his siblings, Elsie, Desilva, Maylease, Juanita, Franklin, and Maudlyn Fletcher.
A celebration of Edwin's life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 am in the chapel of McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be an hour before, at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
