NC, she was the daughter of the late John Albert Paul and Rena West Paul.
Helene attended business school and worked as a court stenographer in Raleigh, NC. She
was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed decorating her home, and loved her garden and
flowers. Most of all, she loved being a homemaker and caring for her family.
She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. We remember
her for her sweetness of spirit and her never ending love for her family, friends, and neighbors.
She always remembered their kindness and care for her.
She was married for 65 years to Irving M. Cheek, Jr., who predeceased her. Her husband was
her cherished friend and they were devoted to each other.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Newton (Paul) of Monroe, NC, and her daughters, Virginia
Irene Bondeson of Stevens Point, WI and Patricia Lorena Cheek of Greenville, SC. Also, her
three grandsons, Dave Bondeson (Heather) of Stevens Point, WI, John Bondeson of Colombia
Heights, MN, and Dan Bondeson of New Haven, CT, as well as her great-grandchildren Leila,
Eden, Eben, and Elliet, and well-loved nieces and nephews. She was proud of them all.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 21st, at 11 am at the Vine United
Methodist Church, 2101 Belvedere Avenue, Charlotte, NC. Visitation with the family will
precede the service at 10 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Vine United Methodist Church.
