Born on November 14, 1946, in Jonesboro, Georgia, Elise lived a life filled with grace, compassion, and quiet strength. She had a way of making everyone feel at home — through her warm smile and loving spirit. She never met a stranger.
Elise was the heart of our family. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, a loving grandmother, a cherished great-grandmother, and a loyal friend. Her joy came from life’s simple blessings: tending her garden, curling up with a good book, connecting with her neighbors and community, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and watching the generations of her family grow. She taught us patience, kindness, and the importance of showing up for one another with love.
Elise graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Psychology in 1967. She spent much of her career as a respected Property Manager in Charlotte, NC. She loved working with her clients and was beloved by her team. In addition to her career, she dedicated many hours to her volunteer work at Common Heart, Matthews Help Center, and as a Stephen Minister.
Her greatest achievement and joy were her family. Elise is survived by her husband of 48 years, David Huntley, Matthews, NC; her children Lisa Richards (Chris Richards), Chuck Huntley (Shawn Huntley), and Jeff Huntley (Lynne Whitcher); her stepson Kevin Huntley (Angie Huntley); her grandchildren Hannah Cook (Aaron Cook), Abby Richards, Emma Miller, Zac Huntley, Haden Miller, Ava Huntley, and Ruby Huntley, her great-grandchild, Jones Cook; and her nieces Jennifer and Allison Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Connie Brown, and her brother, Allen Brown.
Her spirit lives on in all of us who were touched by her kindness, her wisdom, and her unwavering care.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, June 13th, 2025, at 11:00AM at St. Francis United Methodist Church, 4200 McKee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28270. All who knew her are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis United Methodist Church or Common Heart, in Elise’s memory — a way to honor her legacy of love and generosity.
Forever in our hearts.
** Any floral deliveries should be made directly to the church. Thank you.
