Elizabeth Hrncirik

Elizabeth was born on January 18, 1949 to Peter and Annie Seigle in Galveston, Texas. She graduated in 1967 from LaMarque High School in Texas. From there, she pursued a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin to become a Registered Nurse. After graduation, she went on to become a neonatal nurse on overnights.

She married Steve Hrncirik Jr on June 10th, 1971. They resided in Austin/Houston, Texas until the early 1980s when they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Including her dedication to her career, she was a devoted mother to her 3 boys, wife to Steve and a provider for her family. Elizabeth was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Gabriel’s and St. Matthew churches in Charlotte.

Elizabeth was an avid gardener who loved every type of flower and knew how to meticulously care for them. She was quite the talker, she enjoyed spending time on the phone with her family, especially her sisters. She truly enjoyed hearing the stories or receiving pictures of her grandchildren over the years as they have always brightened her day to see what they were up to. She also enjoyed traveling with her family to many places for new experiences including the Czech Republic for a family reunion, Canada, the Caribbean and many other places throughout the United States for family business and vacations.

She was a kind gentle soul who always wanted what was best for those around her. Her love of children and babies was an impetus to care for them in the neonatal unit. At meals and in life she was always so excited to talk with people that everyone else would be done before she would even take her first few bites.

In September 2017, Elizabeth was diagnosed with dementia where she was unable to care for herself, or be cared for with the help of family members. She has resided at the Pavillion at Brightmore in Charlotte since. In her final years of her life, her true self shone through her dementia. She always had a smile on her face, and a laugh to everything being said no matter the topic or situation.

While her family was very important, she also wanted to help as many people as possible. Friends and strangers were often treated like family.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Steve Hrncirik Jr.; sons Steve III (Anita), Gregory (Sara) and Michael (Jackie); sisters Victoria Roush and Theresa Greco; grandchildren Aiden, Alexandria, Zoe, Sofia, Chase and Morgan. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother Peter Seigle; daughters Mary-Martha and Mary-Elizabeth.

She will be dearly missed.

A COVID safe service will be held on Friday, February 19th, 2021 at 11am at McEwen Funeral Home on 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. The service will be livestreamed.
