Elizabeth B. Miller

Mrs. Miller, 74, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on August 18, 2012 at CMC-Main. She was born on September 30, 1937 in Statesville, NC, a daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth Fraley Battley, and beloved wife to her late husband, Edgar L. Miller, Jr., who passed away in 1989.

Betty attended Statesville High School and Mitchell College. In 1961, she married Ed Miller and they had three children, Betsy, Mike and Rick. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling the world. Betty was a devout member of Charity League of Charlotte, which is a non-profit organization committed to actively enhancing the lives of Charlotte area children by promoting academic achievement, pro-social behavior and self-worth through volunteerism. She joined in 1991, served on many committees, and held several offices, including President. One of her league friends said that she would do anything to get the task at hand completed. She also loved to entertain, and spend time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary S. Battley in 2011.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Catherine Elizabeth “Betsy” Haynes and husband James “David” Haynes; son, Michael Stephen Miller and wife Annette Ford Miller and their children, Catherine Elaine “Katie” Miller, Maria Nicole Miller, Anna Bernadette Miller, Christine Elizabeth Miller, and Alexander Michael Miller; son, Richard Neely Miller; and sister, Ann Battley Keller and husband Allan L. Keller.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
