Elizabeth "Betty" Bertha Sosta

Elizabeth or Betty Sosta as she was known to most,83, of Charlotte, passed away on January 11, 2024 at Atrium Health Lincoln. She was born on February 21, 1940 in Dutchess county, New York, the was the only child of Otto and Wilma Friske.

Upon graduating from Pine Plains High School, she enlisted in the Air force where she served 3 years at Lackland Air Force Base. After her return home, she was employed working in textiles where she cut fabric for sample books. Betty enjoyed creating clothing and drapery. She married her husband Vincent in 1968 and they moved to Charlotte in 1978 as her husband was relocated for work with IBM.

Betty enjoyed gardening and flowers. She would grow a large vegetable garden every year. She was a member of the Coulwood Garden Club.

A long-time member of A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, Betty was employed for a number of years at Odell Associates and was a former member of NAWIC. She retired from Windstream.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Glenn) Avery and her bonus daughter Cynthia (David) Zitz along with 3 bonus grandchildren, Lindsay Zitz, Kaitlyn North and Lauren Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Scott who passed away at the age of 3 from Leukemia; her husband, Vincent who passed away in 2015 and stepson Vincent B.”Benji” Sosta. She also leaves behind several step grandchildren and many family and friends.

Services will be held at A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church on February 3rd 2024. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by service at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, 8200 McClure Circle, Charlotte, N. C. 28216.
