Elo Nguyen

Elo was born in Vietnam on August 7, 1948, to the late Lien Nguyen and Mua Thi Nguyen. A brave and hardworking man, Elo fought in the Vietnam War alongside U.S. forces. In Vietnam, he worked as a skilled fisherman, navigating the waters with passion. After moving to the United States, he built a life of dedication, working at Wallace Metal and later becoming a successful business owner.

Elo lived life to the absolute fullest. He was happiest when he was singing karaoke, casting a line at his favorite fishing spots, or playing melodies on his guitar. A vibrant and social soul, he loved nothing more than partying, laughing, and sharing good times with his cherished friends and large family.

He was the beloved husband of Thom Huynh Nguyen. He is survived by his loving children: Thoa Nguyen, Thanh Nguyen, Binh Nguyen (fiancé, Jonathan), Lam Nguyen (wife, Kelly), Dong Nguyen, and Kimberly Ferguson (husband, Richard).

Elo was a proud grandfather to Jessica, Melissa (husband, Fernando), Benson, Daniel, Abbie, Austin, Andrew, Mylinh, Sandy, Timmy (wife, Natalie), Mayci, Kylie, Bentley, Katana, Malina, Alivia, and Chris. He is also survived by his cherished great-grandchild, Bao. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lien and Mua Thi Nguyen.

Family, friends, and anyone who wishes to honor Elo's life are welcome to attend his services Monday August 24, 2026 and / or Tuesday August 25, 2026.

Receiving of Friends will be held at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212, US, on August 24, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, followed by the Funeral from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM. There will be a Religious Ceremony at McEwen Funeral Service Chapel on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. The Committal Service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM. A temple service with food will follow immediately after the burial at Chua Cực Lạc, 1800 Marita Dr, Charlotte, NC 28214.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts will be donated to Chua Cực Lạc temple.
