Elvira Ruth Viamont

Elvira Ruth Viamont was born in Argentina, on October 20th, 1975, and she would pass away on November 10th, 2024. She would spend 2-3 years in Argentina, but would eventually move to Bolivia, the home country of her mother, Dora Jimenez, and her grandparents. She would live with her mother, her brother Johnny, and her older sister Sonia. She worked as a waitress at her aunt’s restaurant in her younger years, and would study Dentistry once she got to college in Bolivia. Elvira would travel to the United States in March 2000. She would meet up with her old friend, Oscar Vargas, in the then-little town of Waxhaw, NC. She would marry Oscar Vargas in 2004, although keeping her last name “Viamont”. Elvira Viamont would give birth to Andrew Vargas (2007) and Leonard Vargas (2009), the two sons she would care for and cherish throughout their lives into teenage hood.

Elvira Viamont loved to socialize with her friends in Waxhaw, many from Waxhaw Bible Church, others from downtown Waxhaw, and her Bolivian friends and family members back in Bolivia through her phone calls. Elvira Viamont was the Angel that kept the Vargas’ family household intact - always being aware of future appointments for her sons and her husband Oscar, and also keeping the house well-kept and presentable. Elvira mostly loved being with her family, always taking pictures of her sons and her husband on Christmas, school ceremonies, sport events, academic accomplishments of her son Leo and Andrew, family-going outs, and many more. Elvira had other hobbies as well, such as gardening and listening to her son Andrew play the saxophone for her. Elvira loved to tend the flowerbed outside her home, a reminder of her adoration of flowers of all types. Elvira loved to spend her time with her son Leonard, and was not only his mother, but his mentor, teacher, best friend, and Guardian Angel on earth, and now in heaven. Elvira is best known by her friends for her fierce and yet respectful and composed character - never backing down from doing what’s best for her family, and yet always being optimistic and humorous in times of difficulty. Elvira also never stopped reminding her son, Andrew, of the important life lessons he must know in order to survive in life.

Elvira Viamont always joked with our family how the four of us were the “famous” “Vargas Family of Waxhaw”, and although He has taken Elvira Ruth Viamont to heaven, she has left her legacy of teachings and powerful memories with her husband, Oscar Vargas, and her two sons, Andrew Vargas and Leonard Vargas.

A celebration of life for Elvira will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Waxhaw Bible Church, 6810 Pleasant Grove Road, Mineral Springs, NC 28173.

Elvira Ruth Viamont nació en Argentina el 20 de octubre de 1975 y fallecería el 10 de noviembre de 2024. Pasaría 2 o 3 años en Argentina, pero finalmente se mudaría a Bolivia, el país de origen de su madre, Dora Jiménez, y sus abuelos. Viviría con su madre, su hermano Johnny y su hermana mayor Sonia. Trabajó como camarera en el restaurante de su tía en sus años más jóvenes y estudiaría Odontología una vez que llegara a la universidad en Bolivia. Elvira viajaría a los Estados Unidos en marzo de 2000. Se reuniría con su viejo amigo, Oscar Vargas, en el entonces pequeño pueblo de Waxhaw, Carolina del Norte. Se casaría con Oscar Vargas en 2004, aunque conservaría su apellido "Viamont". Elvira Viamont daría a luz a Andrew Vargas (2007) y Leonard Vargas (2009), los dos hijos que cuidaría y apreciaría durante toda su vida hasta la adolescencia.

A Elvira Viamont le encantaba socializar con sus amigos en Waxhaw, muchos de ellos de la Iglesia Bíblica de Waxhaw, otros del centro de Waxhaw y sus amigos y familiares bolivianos en Bolivia a través de sus llamadas telefónicas. Elvira Viamont era el ángel que mantenía intacta la casa de la familia Vargas, siempre estando al tanto de las futuras citas de sus hijos y su esposo Oscar, y también manteniendo la casa bien cuidada y presentable. A Elvira le encantaba estar con su familia, siempre tomando fotografías de sus hijos y su esposo en Navidad, ceremonias escolares, eventos deportivos, logros académicos de su hijo Leo y Andrew, salidas familiares y mucho más. Elvira también tenía otros pasatiempos, como la jardinería y escuchar a su hijo Andrew tocar el saxofón para ella. A Elvira le encantaba cuidar el cantero de flores afuera de su casa, un recordatorio de su adoración por las flores de todo tipo. A Elvira le encantaba pasar su tiempo con su hijo Leonard, y no solo era su madre, sino su mentora, maestra, mejor amiga y ángel de la guarda en la tierra, y ahora en el cielo. Elvira es mejor conocida por sus amigos por su carácter feroz pero respetuoso y sereno, que nunca se echa atrás a la hora de hacer lo mejor para su familia y, sin embargo, siempre es optimista y divertida en tiempos difíciles. Elvira tampoco dejó de recordarle a su hijo, Andrew, las lecciones de vida importantes que debe conocer para sobrevivir en la vida.
