The son of the late Charles C. and Amber Greggains Palmer, he was born on January 24, 1934 in Annsville, NY.
Emery was a graduate of Camden High School, Class of 1951. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1955 and also received a Master of Business Degree from Rutgers University in 1962. He served in the US Army out of Fort Dix, NJ from 1956 to 1958.
Emery worked as a Chemical Engineer for Dupont, Ferro, Rexam for over 30 years. He was also a consultant with Kaye Industries of Wales. In 1986 he was awarded a United States Patent for Premasked Decal.
Emery was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, and he will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth Kissam Palmer, at home; son Emery Palmer, Jr. and his wife Trena of Charlotte, NC; stepsons Bill Pizarro and his wife Donna of Fishkill, NY and Michael Pizarro and his wife Denise of Charlotte, NC, five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers Paul Palmer of Plano TX and Alan Palmer and his wife Ethel of Vienna, NY; sister Ann Britton of Rensselaer, NY; sister-in-law Joan Palmer of Taberg, NY; plus many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Cliff, Tom and Hugh Palmer; sister-in-law Eunice Palmer; and brother-in-law William Britton.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 10-11:30am at McEwen Funeral Service - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Crown Memorial Park, 9620 Rodney St., Pineville, NC.
