Born May 19, 1925, Mrs. Amis was a daughter of the late William Alexander Troutman and Dora Emma Love Troutman McDonald.
A retired composing room type-setter, she had worked for the Charlotte Observer more than 30 years and Western Union in Washington, DC and California.
She was a member of University City Methodist Church, the Good Times Club, many Bible study groups and the Jolly 60’s at Northside Baptist Church. She was also a member of the POW’s.
Her husband, a former prisoner of war, Thomas Pinson Amis, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Honeycutt of Charlotte, NC and Patricia Robinson of Matthews, NC along with a brother, Baxter McDonald of Lake Norman, NC.
Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Dana Robinson Martin, Brett Honeycutt, Mark Honeycutt, Janice Douglas, Rita Hartsell, Linn Hartsell, Mary Pena, Helen Seals, Robin Ford and Pat Suddeth.
Siblings preceding her death were, Bertie Honeycutt, J.P. Troutman, Carl Alexander Troutman, Junior Robinson Troutman, James Bedford Troutman and Marvin Edward Troutman.
Services are planned for 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel. Friends may visit Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC.
Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Brookwood Ave. NW, Concord, NC.
