Ernest R. Clewis, Sr., age 84 of Charlotte died October 13, 2011 at his residence. A graveside service will be at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, October 20th at the Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury, N. C. with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00Am Thursday at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home
Mr. Clewis was born in Lumberton, NC April 13, 1927. He was a Master Cabinet Maker and US Navy Veteran of WWII. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Broom Clewis, sons, Steve Clewis and Ernest Rudolph Clewis, Jr. all of Charlotte, daughter, Sherrie Durell and husband, Kirk of Huntersville, NC, four grandchildren and one great grandchild, sisters, Bonnie Hunsucker of Virginia and Lois Childers of Rockingham, NC.
