

Ervin Jackson Jr., resident of the Cypress Club of Charlotte, died unexpectedly on December 23, 2011. He was born in Birmingham, AL on December 23, 1925, the son of the late Ervin Jackson and Katherine Neal Ivey.
Mr. Jackson graduated from Duke University in 1949, having served in the Army Air Force 1944-1947.
His entire business career was with J.B. Ivey & Company, a specialty department store group and a related company, Ivey Properties.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Beth) Jackson; their two daughters, Ivey Sumrell and husband James G. Sumrell of Columbus, NC, and Katherine (Kathy) Howe and husband Dr. Harold R. Howe, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bette) Sumrell of Greenville, SC, Harold (Trey) R. Howe, III of Greenville, NC, Katherine (Khaki) H. Howe of Park City, Utah, and Jane H. Dickson and husband Paul M. Dickson, Jr. of Shreveport, LA. He is also survived by his brothers, B. Ivey Jackson and Cory G. Jackson and wife Betty, of Birmingham, AL.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in Providence Hall following the service.
