Esqueretta “Rita” Nordman was born on March 25, 1944 to James Belton and Ruby Sparks in Summerfield, North Carolina. She lived as a very strong-willed and selfless woman until the day of her passing on December 10, 2018. She had four brothers who loved and protected her through each day. She has joined three of them in Heaven-Jimmy, Phillip, and Avery “Spike” Belton. Always a family-oriented woman known as “Maw Maw,” she dedicated her life to making sure her loved one’s needs were met before her own.
Rita was blessed throughout her life. She was incredibly intelligent and very independent in her everyday life. In her younger days, she married the love of her life, Frederick Theodore Nordman (who she has also joined in Heaven) and together they built a business called Universal Plastics. Aside from being a successful business-woman, Rita loved to cook and would feed the whole neighborhood with her delicious food. Everyone could never get enough of her chocolate cake. She would never forget a birthday with that cake.
Rita is survived by her sons; Timothy Leggett (Betsy), and her step-daughters; Kim Railla Nordman (Stephan Menne) of Germany, and Lillian Hare Nordman, her brothers; Mike Belton (Deborah), Paul Nordman (Sandy), and Ronnie Nordman (Peggy), her sisters-in-law; Frieda Porter, Shirley Hill, Linda Smith, and Jenny Lee, her niece, Ruby Tickle (Scott), her granddaughters; Cynthia “Pebbles” Leggett, Olivia Hare, and Amanda Finley (Jeremy), her grandsons; Benjamin Hare and Josh Hollis (Tabitha), and her six great-grandchildren; Tyler Finley, Cole Thomas, Joshua Hollis, Landon Finley, Jayda Hollis, and Corbin Nesbitt. Rita’s memory will remain alive through all that loved her.
