Ethel Bryant

Preceding her are husband, Allen Bryant; brothers John, Andrew, James, and Joseph; and sisters Mary, Vera, and Rose.

She is survived by her sister, Ann Elzer, of IL; nieces and nephews Tony Small (Peg), of TX, Ralph Bryant (Martha Gail), of Fort Mill, SC, Henry Bryant, of Fort Mill, SC, Betty Jackson (Ben), of Rock Hill, SC, Kathy Hill, of Denver, NC, Hal Bryant (Lee), of Shelby, NC, and other nieces and nephews.

Prior to WWII, Ethel worked as an inspector at Inland Steel Company in Chicago. While visiting friends in NC she met and married Allen, a marriage lasting 54 years. She was a department manager at Sears, both at Eastland Mall and downtown.

After retiring, she helped in the family business. She was one of the first volunteers, and buyer of the gift shop at Mercy Hospital (CMC) Pineville for 25 years, with over 10,000 hours. Other accomplishments include Girl Scout Leader, President of Sears Retiree Club, and President for 12 years of Providence Community House Club. She was a charter member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. An avid reader, she also loved to visit with friends, quilt, and travel.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 11:00am, with a visitation half an hour prior to the service.
