Evelyn L. (Jacobs) Pelletier

Evelyn L. (Jacobs) Pelletier (90), lifelong resident of “Podunk” East Brookfield, MA died peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Charlotte, NC with her son Thomas and daughter-in-law Linda Pelletier at her bedside.

She was the wife of Ernest R. Pelletier who died in June 2023.

Evelyn loved to dance, listen to music, tend her vegetables, and flower gardens. She was a woman of extraordinary strength and grace. She lived a life as a force of nature and a friend to many. Her laughter was easy, her advice was wise and her truest calling was always the care, nurturing and love of her family.

Born on July 13, 1936, in Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of Wakefield S. and Grace E. (Doten) Jacobs, Sr. She was a 1954 graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA.

Evelyn was known for exceptional gardening skills in tending to her garden, fruit trees and flowers. She worked for many years making hand crafted brooms at Ivy Products in New Braintree, MA. These unique creations were sold to Sturbridge Village.

Left to cherish her in memory, she leaves her son Thomas Pelletier and wife Linda of Charlotte NC; grandchildren Jennifer Messier of Spencer, MA, Christopher Pelletier of Rock Hill, SC, Virginia Pelletier of Charlotte, NC, Scott Messier of Spencer, MA, Nicholas Pelletier of Rock Hill, SC and ten great grandchildren along with nephews Kenny Jacobs of East Brookfield, MA and Gary Jacobs of Spencer, MA and niece Maria Taber of Folsom, CA.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Linda L. Pelletier Messier Cassie, brothers Wakefield S. Jacobs, Jr and Gerald L. Jacobs; sisters Virginia R. (Jacobs) Wark and Shirley Jacobs.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday September 25th, 20206 at 11am in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville located at 10500 Park Road in Charlotte, NC.

Private burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in East Brookfield at the convenience of the family.
