

Faye Thompson Lemmond, 81, of Indian Trail, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of the 19th of May, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Faye was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She will be missed by all.
Faye was born on the 27th of December 1943 in Charlotte, North Carolina and was the fifth of eight children born to James Lloyd Thompson and Mervin Meurer Murphy Thompson. She grew up in the Oakdale Communtiy in Charlotte and had a blessed childhood with much love from family and friends. Early in life in Oakdale, Faye met Linda Adams (Sadler) and they remained best friends until her passing.
She loved school - attending Oakdale Elementary, Wilson Jr. High and West Meck High High School. She always excelled in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities and was a proud member of GAA's at West Meck. She was loved by students and teachers alike. At a very early age, Faye knew she wanted to be Teacher and worked very hard to achieve that goal.
Faye met Donny Lemmond at West Meck High School and they became high school sweethearts and married on the 31st of July, 1966 after both completed college. Both spend their careers as educators with Donny returning to West Meck HS as a teacher, coach and retired as Athletic Director. Faye taught at Coulwood Middle School, North Gaston High School, Kennedy Middle School and Metro Center. Faye & Donny were blessed with 58 years of marriage, two sons, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She dearly loved her family.
Faye was outstanding in all her endeavors, but always first and foremost was her Heavenly Father and Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. She was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and Sparta United Methodist Church, when they lived in Roaring Gap, NC. Faye and her dear friend, Elizabeth Puckett, started the Disciples Sunday School Class at Pleasant Grove UMC years ago and it's still striving. She coordinated many fund raisers at Pleasant Grove during the time of building the Family Life Center and was active in starting the Hot Dog Friday, which everyone loved.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lee Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Donny Lemmond; two sons, Donald E. Lemmond, III (Trip) and his wife, Edna and Todd; eight grandchildren: Christine, Jordan, Grant, Steven, Anthony, Sarah, Zach and Katie and their spouses; her two great grandchildren: Thomas and Noah. She is survived by her siblings: Jim Thompson and wife, Joanne, Eddy Thompson and wife, Amy, Nell Hartgrove, Steve Thompson and wife, Karen, Diane Keistler and Johnny Thompson and wife, Carol. She is also survived by more than 90 nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The Lemmond family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Saturday, the 24th of May, 2025 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1915 Oakdale Road, Charlotte, NC 28216. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 2:00 PM in the Sanctuary. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Bearing the casket of Mrs. Lemmond will be Anthony Ravas, Zach Lemmond, Jeff Keistler, Thomas Chasteen, Devin Mederios and Steven Ravas. Honorary pallbearers will be the Disciples Sunday School Class.
The Lemmond family would like to thank Dr. Browning at Lake Park Medical Center, Atrium Hospice of Union County, special nurse - Elsy, TerraBella Memory Care Indian Trail and special caretaker, Octavious Jordan.
