Toby married Robert P. Pressley in 1940 and theirs was a love story until his death in 1973. They were long time members of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. She considered it a blessing to be involved in the Annie Cordell Class and the New Horizons. In addition to providing a loving home for their five children, Toby and Robert provided a foster home for more than 100 children over a twenty year period. She also enjoyed a fulfilling 25 year career in the Occupational Therapy Department of Charlotte Rehabilitation Hospital. Toby enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved gardening and shared flowers with everyone.
Having asked Jesus to become her personal Savior and Lord at an early age, Toby had the promise of going to Heaven at her death. She often remarked that she hoped her duties in Heaven included rocking the babies and tending the flower gardens. We are certain God is granting that wish for her.
A service to celebrate the life of Toby Pressley will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00am to 10:00am. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
