Frances lived a remarkably full life of 95 years, bringing a spirit of warmth and light to all who knew her. Her life was a story of resilience, love and selflessness. Faith, family, flowers, food and fun were all passions for her, and the love with which she shared those interests will be deeply missed and remembered forever.
Frances was a gentle, caring soul who loved her family through several generations. She was an inspiration, as she never let any adversities such as vision or hearing loss deter her from living a full life of devotion to her family and enjoying simple daily pleasures. She loved to reminisce about her childhood, early marriage days, children growing up, and funny stories of days gone by. Her memory was remarkable — never forgetting a birthday, anniversary, or any milestone.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Johnny Gene Austin Sr.; her son, Johnny Gene Austin Jr.; her son, Robert L. Austin Sr.; and a dear childhood friend of 88 years, Jean Gillis.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Perciful (David); daughter-in-law, Terry Austin Sullivan (Tom); five grandsons: Brock Austin (Anna), Bart Austin (Julie), William Perciful (Angela), Brian Austin, and Treston Maurer (Samantha). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and a niece, Suellyn Enright, whom she had a treasured relationship with.
Frances retired from the ABC board and was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina.
It was her wish to share her favorite scripture with you: John 14:27 — "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Frances knew the Lord's peace and greatly treasured it.
