

Frances McCollum, 82, of Charlotte, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at her home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 21, 1929 to Agnes and Charles Moavero.
Mrs. McCollum graduated from Girls Commercial High School, Brooklyn, NY. She had worked as a secretary in the Family Dollar Real Estate Division, and local government. She enjoyed living in the south. Frances especially liked to walk with her dog, Princess, enjoyed the scenery of the outdoors, and being with her loving family.
Frances is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles F. McCollum; her daughter, Melissa E. Gardner and husband Alan of Monroe, NC; her two grandchildren, Christine Campbell and MacKenzie Gardner; and her great-granddaughter, Hartleigh Campbell. Frances and her family would like to acknowledge her sister-in-law, Katherine McCollum of Omaha, NE.
A celebration of Frances's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Central Ave., Charlotte.
Friends will be received from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Harry & Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC.
The family would like to express its thanks and appreciation to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region for working with Frances over the past few months. Also, we would like to express our appreciation to the Order of Comfort Keepers who assisted and cared for Frances daily at her home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
