She came to Charlotte from South Carolina in her late teens and attended business college and worked as a secretary for a period of time before she met the love of her life, Ed Torgerson. She took enormous pride in her husband's career and the lives and endeavors of her three children and two grandchildren.
There was no need to ask her about all of these things; she was only too happy to fill you in. Her zest for life was infectious and her sparkling sense of fun was always ready. All who knew her felt her love, she was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, and a true friend to so many and she truly never met a stranger. She had a core belief in fairness, kindness, and consideration. She lived her life with the highest of standards. She was passionate about entertaining, her church, bridge, gardening, reading, decorating, golf, and enjoyed conversing and visiting with her large family and many friends. Frances possessed a special charm, beauty and style that we will forever love in her....and miss.
Graveside services will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2011 in Duluth, MN. Arrangements will be made by Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted on a date to be determined at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC.
