Francis F. Tsai, 70, passed away on Sunday, September 16, at home. He was born in Shanghai, to the late Frederick and Mary Tsai. At age 2, his family migrated to Hong Kong where he completed his primary and secondary education. He came to the United States to attend college, but soon left school to join the travel business, which he was drawn to all his life.
In his long career, he has worked for airlines (Pan Am, Lufthansa, Eastern), Carnival Cruise where he was top salesman, and multiple tour agencies. He himself was a world traveler, spoke multiple languages, and developed a multitude of close life-long friends around the globe. He lived life to the fullest, and his greatest success in life was the universe of friends who loved and rallied around him.
He was also an accomplished musician, and has played guitar with professional groups and friends. In his early years, he has even cut musical records in Hong Kong that became the bestselling ones at the time.
He fought a valiant battle against brain cancer, and is now at peace, joining our heavenly father.
He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Peter, and survived by his other brothers, Daniel and Simon, his sister Victoria, and Simon's wife, Anna.
A memorial mass will be held for Francis next Friday, September 28, at 10am, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28211. Guests are invited to join the family and friends afterwards at the church's fellowship hall to celebrate his life.
Flowers can be sent to St Gabriel, or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 7600 Little Ave., Charlotte, NC 28226, or to a charity of your choice.
