Freda S. Reynolds

Freda Stogner Reynolds, age 85 of Charlotte went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 5th at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Monday, December 9th at Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church, Reverend John Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. She was born in Mecklenburg County to Atha Lee and Ernest J. Stogner and had 23 siblings. Freda had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Serving others was her way of showing Jesus. If someone was in need, Freda would take a meal, which always included pecan pies and chicken casserole. Countless hours were spent cleaning, decorating and getting the church ready for events. Her home church was Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church, which she attended for over 60 years. She taught Sunday School classes, GA’s, VBS, and many others. The women’s ministry was a vital part of her church ministry. She was in charge of arranging meals for many years. After moving to Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Hendersonville, NC, she continued her serving others by putting Dr. Peppers and honey buns in her walker to give out to the workers there. She would take her devotion book and read to the residents. Freda was a blessing and joy to everyone she met. We look forward to seeing her again in heaven. In July 1949 she married the love of her life, Otis Lewis Reynolds. They enjoyed 62 years together. Her employment included Colonial Store, A & P, and the CMS system. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Lewis Reynolds, two sons, Gary Lewis and Robert Harold Reynolds, and 20 siblings. Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Reynolds Waldrop and husband, Daryl of Mills River, NC, grandchildren, Kaylin, Heather, and Nathan. Sisters, Nancy Garner and husband, Jim of Charlotte, Juanita McClain and husband, Joe of Indian Trail and Daisy Fisher of Florida.
