Gary Eugene Gregg

Gary was born October 29, 1944 at the Venice Florida Army Air Base and came to Charlotte as a child. He was the son of the late Sargent Oscar and Virginia Gregg.

Gary graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1963, where he met his future wife of 61 years, Jane Gregg. He and his brother Danny worked with their father and eventually took over the family automotive shop, where he worked until retirement in August of 2019.

Gary was a faithful member of Christ Presbyterian Church where he served on the session, cooked many meals, helped take care of ground maintenance, and sang in the church choir.

The love of Gary’s life was his wife, Jane, and their ever-growing family they built together. He is survived by his wife, Jane Weddle Gregg; three children: Teresa Green (Terry), Tim Gregg (Lisa), and Melissa Layel. He has 10 grandchildren, 4 of whom are married, and 6 great grandchildren, whom he loved deeply, and brother Danny Gregg (Jill).

He was preceded in death by his great grandson Cylus Pruitt, and many other special family members.

A celebration of life for Gary will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service Inc., 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28210.

In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Disabled Veteran’s National Foundation.
