Gayle Powell Passons

She was born on May 26, 1939 in Atlanta, GA to the late Earl C. Powell and Mary Elizabeth Bryan Powell. She met her husband Clifford “Rudy” Passons on a blind date in 1960 and they were married in 1963.

Gayle was an avid gardener, loved her backyard. She loved shopping at Lowes where the employees there knew her by name. She also loved flea markets and shopping at Ross.

Gayle loved her family. She was a second mother to many while her boys were growing up and was always concerned about everyone else before herself.

She was the finest Christian lady, the best wife and mother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Passons was preceded in death by her sister, Madeline Kaye Powell and a nephew Robert Blake. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Clifford F. “Rudy” Passons; her sons Fredrick Hunter Passons and Todd Powell Passons; sister, Charlotte White; nieces, Scarlett Casner and Courtney Blake; nephew, Rory Blake; grand-niece, Ashley Blake Lawson and her husband Paul Lawson and their children Nora Crews and Verity Lawson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Justin Favaro, Kelly and the staff of Carolina Oncology Specialists Charlotte for their care of Mrs. Passons.

A memorial service for Gayle will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Church Chapel, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Charlotte, NC 28226, followed by a visitation from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Interment is private.
