She was born on March 10, 1927 in Linden, NJ, the daughter of Charles and Emma Mullmann and sister of the late Theodora Dunham of Tinton Falls, NJ. Gwen graduated as an RN from Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing, currently known as Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine.

She was married to Robert E. Drake, who preceded her in death in 1984. They owned a Hardware Store on Main Street in Metuchen, NJ for 36 years. They had four children: Jill Demcsak, Robert E. Drake Jr. (deceased), Dawn Drake and Karl Drake; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gwen was the wife of the late Frank Devine; step-mother to four children: Ellen Goodall (deceased), Kevin Devine, Keith Devine and Marrianne Nutt; and seven grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at McEwen @ Myers Park, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, on Monday, February 22nd at 2:00 pm with a service following in the chapel at 3:00 pm.
