Born September 14, 1941 in Wilson, NC, he was a son of the late Marvin Fredrick Edwards and Dorothea Whitehead Edwards.

George had worked as a security guard for Charlotte Town Mall and Midtown Square.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Edwards; four daughters, Vicki Byrum and husband, Greg, Angie James and husband, Dennis, Sherri Colon and husband, Tony and Terri Diane Edwards along with 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Edwards.

Funeral services are planned for 12:00 pm Monday, January 11, 2021 at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Committal services and burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
