George Darrell Orr

He grew up in Clinton, SC and graduated from Clinton High School, Class of 1964. He received the B.S. degree from Clemson University in 1968. Darrell was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. After the Army he worked in Greenville, SC and began taking flying lessons. He served as a corporate pilot for J.T. Hollingsworth Textile Machinery before being hired by Piedmont Airlines.

Darrell thoroughly enjoyed flying and his association with Piedmont. He later moved to Charlotte and retired in 2006 as a Captain with US Air. He always enjoyed sports and in his youth was an avid tennis player. He loved college football and spent many fall weekends watching numerous games. He also spent many happy hours working in his home workshop.

Darrell is survived by his brother, James A. Orr, III of Charlotte and his sister, Dr. Mary Ann Orr of Matthews.

Graveside services were private at Pinelawn Cemetery in Clinton, SC.
