Born March 10th, 1941 in Winsboro, South Carolina, he was the son of the late George Jennings Ott and Emma Inez Conyers. The family moved to Pineville when Aaron was 3 years old. After school, he started working in many different jobs at Cone Mills in Pineville. When Cone closed, he went to Simmons for a short time. He then worked at Barnhart Manufacturer Inc. as a fixer until he retired in 2010. He was also a founding member of The Moose Lodge in Fort Mill from its conception in 1966.
Aaron loved the outdoors. He was always tending to his gardens (tomatoes, okra, and cabbage). When not gardening, he loved frog gigging, fishing, and hunting. He played softball for Cone Mills, where they won two championships, and enjoyed golf. He loved taking many trips with family and friends, especially when he could spend time with them in nature.
Aaron’s joy in life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Geneva B. Ott — who he married on June 13, 1959 — his daughters, Paulette O. Henry (Kenneth) and Emma J. Hoover, and his son, George A. Ott the Second, his nine grandchildren, his ten great grandchildren, and family friend, Melody Freeman. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Waddel Ott and Gary Ott, and sister Wanda Kay Paul.
A service to celebrate Aaron’s life will be held Tuesday, October 6th, 2026 at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, Charlotte, North Carolina 28210. Visitation will be from 11:30am to 12:30pm, with a service afterwards from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. He will be buried at Sharon Memorial at 2:00pm.
