A graduate of West Mecklenburg High School, George retired from Siemens in 1997. He was a long time member of Mulberry Baptist Church and a U.S. Veteran of the Army National Guard, honorably discharged in 1960.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Pope; sons, Jeff (Kellie) Pope and Robbie Pope; granddaughter, Madison (Forrest) Butler; great-grandchildren, Georgia Bleu Butler and Roscoe Butler; brother, James (Sandra) Pope; numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Nathan Pope.
